Lenten Famous Fish Frys
We look forward to seeing everyone next year, stay tuned for dates and information!
Our church has been serving fish fry dinners since 1965. We serve an average of 650 dinners each Friday during Lent. That is 800 plus pounds of fish each week! We serve fresh cod caught in the cold North Atlantic early in the week. After the fishing boats return to shore it is purchased and delivered to us on Thursday afternoon. That is why it tastes so good, it is always fresh and never frozen! We hand cut the filets and then either batter and fry them or prepare them to be deliciously baked. We make about 250 pounds of coleslaw with the same secret recipe dressing each week. Our baked potato team works hard each week to clean, oil, wrap, and bake up the fresh potatoes. Of course the crispy french fries are always a favorite as well. We offer a huge variety of delicious desserts, many homemade and donated by people in the church & community.
"Why do we do it?" First, it is a great time of food, fun, and fellowship for our church family and community. We also continue to do it because the money raised is used to provide scholarships for children to attend summer church camp or mission trip opportunities. Many of the students and younger helpers serving the meals will be going to camp over the summer because of the money raised (scholarship form is located below).
